2010-10-21-Letter from Mr. Moran

LETTER FROM MR.MORAN 2010-10-21

Subject.
Electricity and Water overcharges.
For at least the past two years Everybody on Mi Sol with the exception of the president and the treasury secretary (who do not pay electric and water) have been paying exorbitant overcharges.
I requested formally in writing for all copy invoices at the last committee meeting. These have now been delivered along with an estimate of the charges as they should be, the results of which are staggering. They have only admitted this year to date, but I need them to admit also to 2009.
The annoying aspect to all this is that they knew that the charges were wrong but ignored the fact. They were informed by a committee member in April but did not act, when they were again told that they were overcharging prior to the A.G.M. they had to act, so they reduced the payments for that quarter, although not by the correct amount. The President had the audacity to announce this reduction at the A.G.M. stating that she had negotiated a reduction with Iberdrola and did she not "deserve some applause", her faithful followers duly obliged.
I call the overcharges staggering, in fact they are beyond belief. The overcharge for this year is 65%. This is due to the fact that we were already being overcharged in 2009 and the president announced a 20% increase at the A.G.M. in 2009, this increase never took place by Iberdrola.
When I have queried the high cost of the electric in the bar I was always told it was the difference between domestic and commercial use, it got so bad that the electric bills were more than the rent per month, sometimes double.
The water charges are the same story. The amount of the overcharge is 45% however and goes back to 2008.

This brings me to the petition circulating Mi Sol to revoke the vote at the A.G.M. that elected three people to the committee, for anybody that wasn't at the A.G.M. these three were elected by a show of hands, each person stood up to identify who you were voting for and two independent people duly counted and agreed a figure which was;
Pat Ainger: 53 for, 3 against
Pat Olive: 51 for, 34 against
Jean Titterton: 46 for, 33 against
The president objected to their election stating that they didn't get a sufficient percentage, she was duly shouted down by the majority of people there and had to admit that they were elected. The underlying reason for her objection to these people serving on the committee is that they will a very close look at any decisions taken.
I think that we need these people in place when you consider the fiasco of the swimming pool costs this year added to the obvious incompetence over electricity and water charges.
If (as seems likely) the misguided people who have been persuaded to sign the petition get enough to force an E.G.M. it would be more than suspicious if it were held in February orMarch as two of the people in question are on holiday.
I would like to give anybody who has signed the petition the opportunity to withdraw their support either by e-mail or in writing.
R.T. Morans.
Mi Sol Bar.
