2010-01-02-Notice of Resignation by M.Taunton

NOTICE 02-01-2010       (handwritten by ?)

Because of recent events I feel I owe the majority of owners an explanation.   It would appear that despite all the hard work and many hours spent negotiating and administrating, there are still a small minority hell bent out to cause disruption.#

When things are not going the way they want, they call a meeting with residents to defame myself, the Vice President and Secretary. We have been criticised for not attending these meetings, but why I ask should we lower ourselves to a level that we are not accustomed to.

With regards to their queries with respect to community bills for the work that the Vice President and myself carry out; as was agreed at the AGM by a good majority that the community bills be covered, I have now decided to decline this. As for Peter Hopkins, he should be getting a salary with his social security paid for, no where would an administrator accept an estimated €26 a week for the amount of work he has put in for the benefit of the community.

The office telephone was disconnected a few years ago by my predecessor because it was an open opportunity for abuse of usuage. When we were elected at the EGM of 2008 there were no telephone facilities and at our own expense we ran up large telephone bills, therefore it was decided to take out a mobile phone contract that alleviated this expense and was cheaper than having a landline reinstalled.

I decided to take on the role of President for the benefit of the community and in doing so have made decisions the only way I know by following the rules and regulations laid down by the authorities and the law, this is now in question and therefore I feel I do not wish to continue.

I have informed the committee of my decision and have asked them to instigate the calling of an EGM for the purpose of electing a new president, notice of which to be sent out with the January bills, in the meantime I am taking a leave of absence. The committee will decide who will act on my behalf during this absence.

My apologies and thanks to those owners who have shown me their support during the last year and special thanks to Peter Hopkins for his dedication.
